Extraordinary Parenting

Few years back when I was coming from a tour and got down at kota railway station and was waiting for auto rickshaw. Suddenly a person waved his hand towards me. He came near to me and said “Nilesh sir, I will drop you at home.” Since he addressed me by my name, I didn’t ask further, was surprised to know that he knows my name.

Discipline

I generally say that Kota is a Mecca & Madina for those who want to study and Las Vegas for who don’t want to study. Discipline is key element in student’s success and ineffective supervision or indiscipline can spoil the child’s progress.

Unrealistic Expectations

Dear all i am sharing the real story where unrealistic expectations of parents spoiling the life of kid. All the names and background have been changed to protect the identity of child and parent.

" Around 2 years back when I was working in my office got a call from boss to meet one parent who came all the way from Calcutta with his 11 year old daughter who was studying in class 6th. Father claimed his daughter to be prodigy who could solve class 11 &12 Maths questions while she was studding in class 6th. I was amazed to hear this .Father was working in Indian Army and posted to Calcutta and when he came to know about my back ground of Armed Forces. He was at ease. My boss asked me to do testing of her .I asked her few questions from the topics he suggested from classes 11 &12 and she was able to solve most of the question .Her father wanted her to start JEE preparation right away. I was reluctant for this. He also showed me lot of press releases of Calcutta where media has praised and went agog over this prodigious child.

Value of Money

In kota every year Dushhara mela is organized. I take kids for mela and every time it has been a nightmarish experience because the trip to mela was always been dominated by kids demands, They keep demanding for things one after another. Even after purchasing 10 toys for them they won’t be satisfied and ask for more.
At the end it was a frustrating experience. As a parent we need to make our kids understand the value of money.
